TF: Tell us a bit about yourself.
MG: I’ve run my own spa for 7.5 years while working full time as a stylist. I recently purchased my own building and have renovated pretty much from the ground up.
MG: Fitness has always been apart of my life from playing sports to competitive cheerleading.
TF: What is it you enjoy most about competing?
MG: What I love most is the transformation. Sculpting and shaping the body is incredible.
TF: Earlier this year you earned your IFBB Pro Card, Congrats… What was that like for you?
MG: Receiving Pro status from winning the overalls at the Arnolds was surreal, a phenomenal experience.
TF: What is your secret for balancing your personal and fitness lifestyles?
MG: My secret IS balance… You have to have a strong healthy mind to be able to balance everything, life still continues when competing, you should never forget that ever!
TF: What is your training philosophy?
MG: Training philosophy would be to listen to ur body get rest if u need it. Find a great coach and trust the process. It’s important to aware of what’s healthy. .
TF: That being said what does a typical training week look like for you?
MG: Typical training would be a seven day cycle, 6 days on and one day off. I typically don’t do too much cardio but switch up routines and patterns often.
TF: What is your philosophy on nutrition?
MG: My nutrition is very balanced and plenty of variety with my protein sources veggies, carbs and fats.
TF: Are supplements a part of your regimen? If so, what are some that you use?
MG: Supplements are a must for me especially being a natural athlete. Advanced genetics keep me fueled. Staple s for me are greens (athletes super food) fish oil, multi-Vitamins, magnesium, creatine and BCAAs.
TF: What or who motivates you to keep going?
TF: What’s your favourite body part to train?
MG: Shoulders are my fav because they used to be my weakest link.
TF: What’s your least favourite body part to train?
MG: I can honestly say I don’t have a least favorite. I love training all of my body.
TF: What accomplishments are you most proud of in the world of fitness?
MG: My Arnolds win most definitely.
TF: What’s next for Melanie Gardner?
MG: Next for me is the Arnolds Pro in March in Columbus Ohio. I never thought I’d be on the stage with the biggest names in the industry. Crrrazy
