At what point in your life did you decide “enough was enough”? What prompted you to start on your fitness journey?
I have always known and felt I needed to get myself in gear to work out, eat better, feel better, and look better but I always lacked the motivation. I hated going to the gym and I had tried many. I had tried many in home workout DVDs but I didn’t like any of those either. What prompted me on my fitness journey was when I experienced the loss of a baby and I was spiraling into a depressed state where I could feel and tell I was not myself. I needed to do something for me that was also going to help get my back on track and refocused. It just so happened that Lori-Ann posted on Facebook about a Jump Fitness class that was being offered and that there were available spots. I had been wanting to try the whole idea of a jump class so I said “why not?”. I went to the class, a little nervous, and immediately was welcomed with smiles and words of encouragement. What I witnessed in the hour that I was there was an atmosphere of family. The women all greeted each other, offered words of encouragement and empowerment and everyone was smiling and happy to be there. I left the class that night feeling like myself; happy, full of energy and excited. I went home saying “I have to, and I will join this gym”.
Do you have a particular food-based vice? One which you find difficult to say no to?
I eat whatever Lori-Ann tells me I should be eating! I mostly stick to chicken, eggs, and tuna for my
protein along with the Body Construct protein powder. For vegetables, I eat lots of greens and peppers. For carbs, I eat healthy carbs only. I find it very difficult to say no to ice cream – it’s my worst enemy! But I allow myself to have some now and then.
What inspired you to hire and work with Lori-Ann Marchese?
The atmosphere of the gym sold me on wanting to be a Body Construct girl. Thankfully I had had a friend who completed Lori-Ann’s 6 week in-home challenge and her results were amazing so I started reaching out to her and making contact. Once I tried the Jump Fitness class and then the Kickboxing class, I was hooked. It did not matter to me what it would take or how much it would cost, I was going to be a Body Construct girl. Lori-Ann is an amazing person and highly intelligent while being so down to earth and real with all the girls. What more could you ask for in a personal trainer?
Do you prefer group-based sessions or solo one-on- one sessions? Why?
I have tried working out in both group-based and solo one-on- one sessions and to be completely honest group-based sessions are the best. Not only do you get the benefit of working out with a trainer every time you’re in the gym, you get the benefit of having so many beautiful and inspiring women working out around you all for the same purpose. I feel it is so motivating and empowering to be working out with so many women at once.
How would you describe your experiences so far with Lori-Ann?
Honestly, there are no words that can describe my experiences with Lori-Ann. Lori-Ann has changed me as a person, my life, and my body in the best way possible. The results I have seen with her are beyond words. Not only is she an amazing trainer who dedicates all she has to being the best she can be for all of us, she is an amazing friend to each of the BC girls. If anyone is lucky enough to get to work with Lori-Ann, take it. You will never regret it. It has been the best decision in my fitness life.
How has your life improved?
My life has improved in so many positive and amazing ways it is unbelievable. I have finally become confident in my body and what it looks like. I am a very confident person but I hated my body. I never thought I looked good in my clothes, let alone a bikini and this summer was the first one that I put on a bikini and thought “damn, you look good.” I have become more positive and happy from joining Body Construct and working with Lori-Ann. My body feels better and healthier. All around I am a better person and a healthier person because of Lori-Ann.
What’s your favorite time of the day to exercise?
I personally love to work out at night. For me, it’s my time to decompress and release all the stress and tension that may have occurred throughout my day. I like this factor because I go home at the end of the day refreshed and relaxed. If I work out in the morning, all the stress and tension could still occur and be with me all night.
Do you have a favorite exercise? One which you dislike the most?
My favorite class is Kickboxing. I absolutely love the workout you receive from it. My favorite exercise would have to be anything focusing on abs along with burpees. My least favorite exercise would be deadlifts.
What advice would you give anyone who may be contemplating a lifestyle change?
Do not be afraid! Take the next step. It will be the best decision in your life. How you treat your body and care for your body will help determine every other area in your life. Just do it. You only have one body and one life, live it to the fullest in the healthiest way possible.
