Mrs. Cannon’s Donuts

Packed with protein and dashingly delicious, these donuts will be your new go-to treat throughout your fitness journey!

Donut Recipe


1 cup of apple sauce
1 scoop of protein powder (I use Magnum’s Quattro Vanilla!)
1 tsp. of all spice
2 tsp. of cinnamon
1/2 cup of coconut flour
2 tsp. of natural maple  syrup

3 tsp. of chocolate almond butter
1 tsp. of coconut oil

  1. In large bowl, mix all ingredients together and pour into pre-sprayed donut tins.
  2. Bake for 20 -25 minutes at 375 degrees Celsius.
  3. Heat coconut oil and chocolate almond butter in microwave on high for 30 to 45 seconds.
  4. Remove donuts from oven and apply glaze. Enjoy!

Introducing Mrs. Cannon’s Cooking Corner!

My name is Heidi Cannon and I love food! My fitness journey began while preparing for my wedding- my goal was to get in the best shape possible.  Little did I know back then that my lifestyle would be totally transformed.

Before I embarked on my fitness journey, I would usually skip breakfast, drink too much coffee, and crash mid-day. I would later fill my body with whatever fast food was nearby work.  I now pack all of my lunches and snacks and have planned meals set out a week in advance.  I like to think of the body as a race car, which needs to be fuelled with the highest quality octane for maximum performance.  Fill your body with nutritious foods, and just like a race car, you will have it running at its ‘max’ potential.

How has my recipe collection come about? Well, let me tell you, it didn’t happen overnight! Because my sponsor, Magnum Nutraceuticals, supplied me with Quattro protein powder, and because of my love to cook and bake and be creative, I started doing what everyone else seemed to do….make protein pancakes!  I then thought about other uses for protein powder… like maybe cheesecake or carrot cake muffins or even pizza. The recipe possibilities became endless!  A lot of my inspiration for these recipes has come from either the Food Network channel or just walking down the grocery aisles drooling over so-called “bad foods”, thinking about how I can create more nutritious versions.  Some of my converted recipes were total “bomb-outs” to begin with, but because I love a good challenge, I re-worked them into cleaner, healthier versions until I got them right.

Baking with the right kind of protein powder is important, so choose your protein wisely because a low quality powder will dry out your baking, mix poorly, and taste a little odd.

If you have followed my fitness journey, you probably know that, for the past year and a half, I have made new recipes weekly and have posted them on my social media accounts. I thought about publishing a cookbook, but I wanted people to have easy access to the recipes in a super user-friendly format.

A few months later, thanks to my good friend Eric, who created and designed an app for me, and for the overwhelming encouragement and support from the Magnum team, the “Mrs Cannons Baking” app was launched and has been sold in over 40 different countries.  This app allows me to reload recipes biweekly, showing all the ingredients used, and with a full macro calorie count.  I’m excited to share some of my recipes with Training & Fitness Magazine- if you like what you see, be sure to check out my app!

What sound does the Cannon make ?!.. "Boom Boom" Heidi Cannon is a non stop high-energy on-the-go kinda gal who loves make people laugh and put a smile on their face. Pro fitness model, Pro bellydancer, dancer, motocross rider and lover of anything with two wheels. Heidi believes in living life to it's fullest and never thinking you're too old to try anything. Just as much as she loves extreme sports, she feels the same about baking and creating all things clean-eating.
