At what point in your life did you decide “enough was enough”?  What prompted you to start on your fitness journey?

I decided enough was enough when I weighed the heaviest I ever had in November 2015.  I tried several diet plans in the past but none of them had positive results.  Prior to having my fourth child, I never had a weight problem.  I was always active and fit.  I danced my whole life as a professional dancer and on competitive dance teams.  But, after having four children via c-section, my body changed.  I had difficulty losing the weight after my fourth child.  I wanted and needed a a healthy lifestyle one that incorporated fitness and nutrition.  That is where Lori-Ann Marchese and Body Construct came in.  My fitness journey with Lori-Ann has been amazing.

Do you have a particular food-based vice?  One which you find difficult to say no to?

I love french fries.  I can never resist a crispy golden french fry.

What inspired you to hire and work with Lori-Ann Marchese?

I desperately wanted to lose the unwanted weight that continually crept on, despite how clean I thought I was eating.  No matter how many home DVD workout systems I’d tried, or working out at other large chain gyms; nothing was working.  I was determined to live a healthy lifestyle – one that incorporated both fitness and nutrition.  So in January 2016, my New Year’s Resolution was to focus on ME.  And that is exactly what I did.  I took a leap of faith and joined Body Construct.  It was the best decision I have ever made.  I am forever grateful.  Every fitness class is different, therefore, we never do the same workout.  You never know what to expect from Lori-Ann which is why working out at Body Construct is exciting and rewarding.

Do you prefer group-based sessions or solo one-on-one sessions?  Why?

I have worked with personal trainers in the past for private sessions either by hiring them on my own or if  they were offered as part of a membership package from one of the large chain gyms.  Although I liked the individual attention they provided, something was missing.  After joining Body Construct, I knew exactly what that was – motivation, encouragement and positive energy that exudes from the other BC women in  class.  We all support one another to achieve results.

How would you describe your experiences so far with Lori-Ann?

Lori-Ann has made a profound impact on my life.  Her knowledge of fitness, particularly on how a woman’s body needs to be trained to achieve that fit and sexy, feminine lean look we yearn to have.  Lori-Ann’s high energy and motivation is brought to every class.   Her  passion for fitness and nutrition has inspired many women to live a healthy lifestyle.  What impressed me the most about Lori-Ann was her doing the 90 Day Challenge along with us.  She experienced the same  frustrations we faced on the Challenge, but we all  encouraged one another to stay on track to succeed.  If Lori-Ann was doing her own Challenge she designed for her members, then it  obviously works.  I was  amazed and pleased with my results.  I never thought losing a total of 26 pounds was attainable and achieving the toned lean body, but it was with Lori-Ann’s nutrition and fitness  plan.  I never imagined in my life that I would be posing in workout wear for a photo shoot.  Lori-Ann gave me my confidence back.  Don’t be the woman who envies another woman because they are fit – be that woman who does the work to be fit and who is envied.

How has your life improved?

I am in the best shape of my life.  Although I am stronger and leaner, I do face health struggles.  After Six months of joining Body    Construct, I contracted a deadly bacterial infection, Streptococcal  Toxic Shock Syndrome that caused my body to go into septic shock. I  was in the Critical Care Unit for over a week.  It is a miracle that I survived. The amazing team of 5 doctor’s on my case,  told me my health,  age and being physically fit contributed to my surviving. Unfortunately, the infection caused severe tissue damage resulting in chronic pain  that I suffer from daily.  When informing Lori-Ann about my health scare, she was nothing but loving and supportive. When I did return to the gym, Lori-Ann provided modifications to the exercises I was unable to do.  Little by little, my body became stronger.  Focusing on my health is my main priority therefore, utilizing the tools Lori-Ann provides is essential. 

What’s your favorite time of the day to exercise?

My favorite time to exercise at Body Construct are taking the 9am classes during the week.  My metabolism is revived and I’m ready to conquer my day.

Do you have a favorite exercise?  One which you dislike the most?

My favorite class is kickboxing. I love the intense high-impact workout.  I dislike burpee’s.  No one likes to drop burpee’s, especially when Lori-Ann demands us to do 100 of them!

What advice would you give anyone who may be contemplating a lifestyle change?

One will never regret changing their lifestyle to living a healthy one in body, mind and spirit.  Don’t wait, do it now.  You will never regret it and will never look back.  Moving forward is your only real option.  Do not take the easy way out and quit – keep forging ahead.  I promise, the results will be amazing.  If you do the work, the gains will be tremendous.  Having a healthy body is a blessing.
